WICHITA, Kan. (KAKE) - The Wichita Fire Department says a home is believed to be a total loss following an overnight fire.

Crews responded at around 12:30 a.m. Friday to the report of a house fire in the 1300 block of North Murray, which is between Tyler and Maize roads and just south of 13th Street. It was reported that something in the house had exploded.

The department said they arrived to find heavy smoke and fire coming from the road and rear of the home.

"This excessive storage slowed the incident down and made very hard working conditions for all fire personnel operating on the interior," WFD said on Facebook. "A secondary search of the home will have to be completed in the daylight."

Two people in the home escaped and were located across the street. They were not hurt.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
