WICHITA, Kan. (KAKE) - Prosecutors have charged two men in the shooting death of a 16-year-old boy last week.

Rico Brown, 24, and Dougqualynn Patterson were charged Tuesday with first-degree murder. They remain jailed on $500,000 each. Police also arrested another 21-year-old man, but he was released without prejudice, meaning charges could still be filed.

Police spokesperson Juan Rebolledo said previously that officers arrived and found 16-year-old Elrecus Nolan not breathing and with a gunshot wound to his upper body. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Lt. Chad Remy said at the scene of the shooting that the victim was driving the car. WPD has not released additional case details, citing the ongoing investigation.

Brown's next court appearance is scheduled for July 20. Patterson will next appear in court on July 25.
