WICHITA, Kan. (KAKE) - An Ozone Alert has been issued for the Wichita area, according to the city.
"Current atmospheric conditions indicate high ozone levels are possible into this evening," the city said in a release Friday morning.
The city said residents and businesses are asked to take action to reduce the emissions that create ozone, such as refueling vehicles when it's cool, walking or riding your bike to work, delaying mowing and painting projects, and postponing errands.
Consider taking the following steps when air quality is poor:
- Choose less strenuous activities (like walking instead of running) so you don’t breathe as hard
- Shorten the amount of time you are active outdoors
- Be active outdoors when air quality is better
- Mow lawns and run errands when it’s cooler out
- Check for updates on AirNow.gov to know when air quality improves
