Wichita man accused of raping young girl pleads guilty to lesser charge
WICHITA, Kan. (KAKE) - A 72-year-old man accused of sexually assaulting a child has pleaded guilty to a lesser charge.
Jimmy Dean Jensen was originally charged last year with rape, aggravated criminal sodomy and aggravated indecent liberties with a child. He pleaded guilty Monday to aggravated indecent solicitation of a child.
Jensen was arrested in May 2022 after officers responded at around to the Patrol West substation for a rape report. A probable cause affidavit states a man reported the 4-year-old girl was molested while in Jensen's care.
The alleged crimes happened in a home's spare bedroom and a shed between August 13, 2021 and May 22, 2022. Investigators interviewed the child, who described several instances of sexual abuse and rape.
Jensen is scheduled to be sentenced on July 21.
