Teen killed in crash near McConnell AFB, sheriff's office says
WICHITA, Kan. (KAKE) - The Sedgwick County Sheriff's Office says a 17-year-old boy died in a crash near McConnell Air Force Base late Tuesday night.
Deputies responded at around 11:45 p.m. to an accident on Rock Road near 39th Street South. Lt. Nathan Gibbs said a northbound Subaru Horizon had left the roadway and struck a tree row.
The driver, Julio Alsidez, died at the scene. He would have turned 18 next week.
"The family located him using his phone location," Lt. Gibbs said.
The cause of the crash is under investigation.
One person is dead in a single-vehicle crash in southeast Wichita.
Emergency crews were called to the scene near 39th and Rock around 11:40 Tuesday night. A supervisor with Sedgwick County emergency services confirms to KAKE News that one person died, but was unable to confirm any other information.
