Wichita man faces new charge in kidnapping, abuse of 14-year-old Arkansas girl
WICHITA, Kan. (KAKE) - A 35-year-old Wichita man faces a new charge in connection to the kidnapping and abuse of a 14-year-old Arkansas girl in December.
David Roark made a court appearance Thursday and was charged with sexual exploitation of a child. He was previously charged with 21 counts that include kidnapping, child abuse, solicitation of a child, and sex offenses. He remains jailed on $1.5 million bond.
Investigators said Roark and the teen met online. Her parents told KARK that their daughter left her home in Bald Knob, northeast of Little Rock, and got into a car with a man on November 12.
The White County Sheriff's Office in Arkansas told Wichita police on December 14 that Roark was possibly in the Wichita area.
Roark was arrested that day while leaving a home in the 1800 block of North Litchfield, in Wichita's North Riverside neighborhood. The missing teen was found inside a closet in the house.
