WICHITA, Kan. (KAKE) - A city board has found Wichita Mayor Brandon Whipple violated the city's code of ethics when he tried to dump trash at a neighborhood clean-up event in October of last year.

Police body camera video showed the confrontation between the mayor and a Wichita police officer on south Seneca at the event.

The officer stopped Whipple after he went into the wrong entrance. The ethics board says the mayor violated the policy when he called the city manager and asked him to file a complaint against the officer.

The board ruled 4-0 that Whipple violated the ethics policy by trying to use his position as mayor to seek favor and private gain by being able to dump his trash instead of waiting in line.

Whipple has seven days to respond to the ruling.
