WICHITA, Kan. (KAKE) - A street in west Wichita has a new name.

Wichita City Council approved the change of West Squaw Lane to West Delano Avenue. It's located just north of Central on Maize Rd.

The city's Diversity, Inclusion, and Civil Rights Advisory Board requested the name change because of the sensitivity of the word "squaw."

Residents have been notified of the name change.
