WICHITA, Kan. (KAKE) - A Johnson City man has been charged with murder for the shooting death of 44-year-old Shawn Lahman of Wichita.

34-year-old Micky Owens was charged with:

  • One count of first-degree murder.
  • One count of criminal discharge of a firearm in an occupied vehicle with great bodily harm.

At around 11:20 p.m. on April 24, officers were sent to the 1300 block of South Edwards for an unknown call. They arrived on the scene and found Lahman in the front seat of a passenger van with a gunshot wound to the upper torso. Emergency crews pronounced Lahman dead on the scene.

An investigation revealed that Owens drove to Wichita on Monday, saw Lahman on South Edwards, and shot him. Police say that Owens and Lahman knew each other and had an ongoing dispute.

Investigators quickly learned that Owen’s fled to Stanton County, Kansas, and coordinated with Stanton County Sheriff’s Office and the Kansas Highway Patrol to be on the lookout for him.

Owens will next appear in court on May 15. His bond has been set at $750,000.
