Overnight standoff ends peacefully in south Wichita
WICHITA, Kan. (KAKE) - An overnight standoff in south Wichita ends peacefully with a man taken into custody.
Around 10:45 Monday night, police responded to a home in the 1600 block of S. Broadway to the report of a disturbance with a weapon. Police say there was an altercation at a home in the area that lead to someone pointing a gun at another person.
The SWAT team was called to assist and used time, distance, negotiation, and technology to help get the suspect. He was taken into custody shortly before 6:00 a.m. Tuesday morning.
No one was hurt.
Wichita police and negotiators are on scene of a standoff in south Wichita.
Sedgwick County emergency dispatchers are asking people to avoid Broadway between Harry and Osie.
A supervisor tells us police were called to the home for a disturbance. They say the suspect did have warrants in the area and could be a danger to himself or others.
