WICHITA, Kan. (KAKE) - A new senior medical center, dedicated to providing care for seniors on Medicare who have multiple chronic conditions, has opened in Central Kansas.

Dedicated Senior Medical Center celebrated its grand opening on Thursday. ChenMed one of the nation's primary care practices opened the center in Wichita at the Grove Center. Hundreds -- and soon thousands -- of Wichita residents currently living in a healthcare "desert" will now have access to care right in their neighborhood.

The practice delivers primary care and empowers doctors to do whatever it takes to deliver good service, to detect and effectively manage high-risk diseases and to reduce hospital sick days for Medicare-eligible seniors.

Dedicated Senior Medical Center is part of ChenMed, which operates more than 125 centers in 15 states.

The senior center is located at 2402 E. 13th St. North, Wichita, KS, 67214. They can be reached by phone at 316-876-6444.

Many people attended the grand opening, including Mayor Brandon Whipple and Police Chief Joe Sullivan.

The newly-dedicated Senior Medical Center is just the first of three centers that will provide affordable care for Medicare-eligible seniors in Wichita and across the region, delivering better health.
