Fire damages strip mall in north Wichita

WICHITA, Kan. (KAKE) - A fire broke out early Monday morning at a Wichita strip mall.
The Wichita Fire Department said that crews were dispatched to a fire at a strip mall at 21st St. and Minnesota shortly before 6 a.m. They found a storage unit connected to the strip mall on fire and began attacking the blaze.
Evergy was called to shut down power to the area when electrical wires near the fire became involved. Firefighters were able to extinguish a majority of the fire from a distance and issued a search of the surrounding building for people. Part of 21st St. was closed for a time as crews battled the fire.
The investigation is ongoing and no injuries have been reported.
