DODGE CITY, Kan. (KAKE) - Police say a man wanted in connection to a homicide in Garden City has died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound during a standoff with authorities in Dodge City. 

The Dodge City Police Department said Sunday night that negotiations with 44-year-old Armando Campos were underway in the area of Market Circle. In an update at 5:45 a.m. on its' Facebook page, the department said the situation had ended with the subject had taken his own life. 

"There is no further threat to residents," the update said. "Our sympathy goes out to the families of both subjects involved in this tragedy."

Campos had been sought since Friday. Garden City police said Capos attacked and killed 63-year-old Julia Landeros. Officers responded that afternoon to the to 1300 block of Conkling Avenue and found Landeros stabbed to death. Authorities believe the attack happened earlier in the week.

Police have not said how the victim and suspect knew each other.
