SMITH CENTER, Kan. (KAKE) - Authorities in several Kansas counties are warning residents about scam letters that claim recipients can received unclaimed life insurance money.

In a recent Facebook post from Smith County Communications, residents are advised to not reply to the letters in any way. If you call the number listed, you could receive scam calls.

"If you are ever unsure what you are dealing with, please before you give out any information or pay any money, check with law enforcement to see if this is a scam, the post says."
