WICHITA, Kan. (KAKE) -  Wichita police are asking for the public's assistance in their search for a shooting suspect. 

On March 15, 2023, at 3:30 a.m. the police were sent to the 2100 block of South Ellis for an alleged shooting.

Detectives learned that the victim witnessed someone enter a car that belonged to his neighbor and began to rummage around in the vehicle with a flashlight.  The victim confronted the suspect, who then shot the victim.

Police found evidence that shows the suspect walking south from the area of 1700 and 1800 S. Greenwood Ave. between the times of 11:45 p.m. on March 14 to 12:05 a.m. on March 15.

The Wichita Police Department is asking for you to review your Ring video footage if you live nearby. Additionally, the WPD is interested in any video showing people walking on foot in the area, checking cars for unlocked doors, or tampering with them.

The suspect is:

  • A white man.
  • 18 to 22 years old.
  • Wearing a black hoodie, red pajama pants, black shoes, and a blue surgical/COVID mask.
