WICHITA, Kan. (KAKE) - A Wichita woman has pleaded guilty to voluntary manslaughter in connection to the fatal shooting of a 42-year-old man at a hotel in 2021.

The Sedgwick County district attorney's office said 37-year-old Shae Roberts also pleaded guilty to attempted distribution of meth. Her sentencing is scheduled for June 6.

A man also accused in the case, Patricio Gomez, was convicted in January of first-degree murder in the death of Michael Martinez.

Martinez was killed at the Extended Stay America in east Wichita on September 30, 2021. Police at the time said Gomez and Roberts arrived at the hotel regarding an illegal drug transaction and Martinez was shot during a disturbance.

Roberts was arrested a week later, and Gomez was taken into custody arrested at the Mexico border in El Paso, Texas in March 2022 after the pickup truck he was driving got stuck on the Rio Grande.
