30,000 show up to Delano Paddy Day
WICHITA, Kan. (KAKE) - It has been four years since Delano has had this large of a crowd for their Paddy's Day Parade.
Although it rained a little, close to 30,000 people came out to celebrate.
The parade’s organizer, Ron Knackstedte, said the original organizers no longer wanted to do it for him but tradition is important and support from local businesses like Home 2 Suites, Monarch, and InSight Real Estate Group, helped bring back the parade. The large crowd also had a huge economic impact for local businesses.
“I lived on Douglas for five years. I walked to the parade year after year and had a blast doing it and just wanted to keep the tradition alive down here,” said Knachstedte.
Rainbows United sponsored a kid zone where they had loads of games and activities for children. There were also loads of vendors, a variety of unique and entertaining floats, vintage cars, and even livestock.
