Train derails in small Kansas town; nobody injured
RIVERDALE, Kan. (KAKE) - A train derailed in the tiny town of Riverdale Saturday evening.
According to the Sumner County Sheriff's Office, a Union Pacific trail derailed shortly after 5:00. Nobody was injured in the incident.
Two intersections were blocked as a result of the derailment, one at 80th Ave. and the other at Western Ave.
The train was reported to be carrying grain.
The Senior Manager of Communications for Union Pacific said the derailed cars have been cleared and work has begun on track repairs.
