Wichita woman sentenced to nearly 30 years in prison for fatal shooting

WICHITA, Kan. (KAKE) — Bobbie Williams has been sentenced to 27 and a half years in prison for the shooting death of Blake Mayes on April 4 of 2020.
The 38-year-old from Wichita was arrested at the time along with two others: 51-year-old William Moore and 28-year-old Jesse Sweeney.
Investigators at the time said a disturbance occurred between Mayes, his girlfriend Williams, Moore, and Sweeney.
They were allegedly at a home smoking methamphetamine together. A witness said Moore went to another room, then he came back with a handgun and pointed it at Mayes. A fight followed, and Sweeney helped pin Mayes to the ground. Moore said he handed the gun to Williams during the fight to avoid accidentally firing it.
Moore and Sweeney will have trials at a later date.
