Derby school board reverses decision, will renew contracts for top administrators
DERBY, Kan. (KAKE) - Derby school board members have reversed their decision to not renew the contracts of top leaders of the district.
Board members held a special meeting tonight to discuss the issue. Last week, they voted not to renew the contracts of the superintendent and two assistant superintendents.
However, after a nearly three-hour executive session, behind closed doors, the board voted 5-2 to approve the contracts as recommended through the 2024-25 school year for Superintendent Heather Bohaty, and Assistant Superintendents, Becky Moeder and Dr. Holly Putnam-Jackson.
Because it's a personnel issue, the board did not discuss why it changed its vote.
