Kansas man sentenced to over 14 years for fatal crash, 4th DUI

COLBY, Kan. (KAKE) - A northwest Kansas man has been sentenced to 13.5 years in prison for a fatal crash and another year in county jail for his fourth driving under the influence conviction.
The Thomas County attorney's office said 37-year-old Alan Dible was sentenced Wednesday to 162 months in prison for involuntary manslaughter while DUI and another 12 months in county.
The crash happened early on on April 9, 2022. According to the Kansas Highway Patrol, Dible backed an SUV out of a shop on private property on the north side of Colby and then headed westbound. After about 130 feet, the GMC Jimmy overturned, partially ejecting 25-year-old Dalton Ellis.
Ellis died at a Colorado hospital three days later, according to his obituary. Dible and three others were not hurt.
Kansas Department of Corrections records show Dible has prior convictions of child endangerment and possession with intent to distribute marijuana.
