Report of attempted kidnapping in Hoisington was fake, police say

HOISINGTON, Kan. (KAKE) - Hoisington police say that investigating the report of an attempted kidnapping earlier this week, it was determined the incident was falsely reported.
It's unclear if the person behind the fake report will face charges.

Police in central Kansas are searching for the vehicle reportedly involved in an abduction attempt Wednesday morning.
According to Hoisington police, the victim said he was walking in the 800 block of West 2nd Street at around 6:15 a.m. when he was approached by a white van.
"The victim reports a male subject in the van attempted to force him into the vehicle, although the victim was able to free himself and run," HPD said on Facebook.
The vehicle is described as a white full-size van with peeling paint and a sliding rear passenger door. Two people were inside, police said, and the van left Hoisington on West 2nd Street after the incident.
The victim's age was not released, but Hoisington High School relayed a message from police.
