Former McPherson star Robertson makes history, meets Steph Curry
McPHERSON, Kan. (KAKE) - After Taylor Robertson made history over the weekend, Steph Curry took notice and congratulated her in a big way.
The new all-time 3-point record holder in NCAA women's basketball, Roberston also became the first male or female to make 500 threes.
Curry, a big advocate for women's sports, went above and beyond to congratulate her. He not only invited Robertson to the Warriors' game against the Thunder in Oklahoma City on Monday but also took the time to meet her before the matchup.
This comes after he sent Robertson a video congratulating her on the accomplishment.
Here's what the Warriors star had to say in the video: "Hey what's up Taylor, just wanted to say congratulations on breaking the all-time NCAA women's division one three-point record of 498 threes," Curry said in the video. "Now I know you're gonna keep adding to that number and probably make it hopefully something that will never be broken but to go from making eight threes in your first college game against Western Kentucky, to now 498. That is an amazing, amazing accomplishment. I only made 414 threes in college so you've had me beat."
Robertson broke the record with her first shot in Saturday's game against Iowa State. It marked the 498th career three for the Oklahoma star.
The McPherson native started her storied career as the 2017 Kansas Gatorade Player of the Year and guided the Bullpups to a state championship in 2018.
A redshirt senior, Robertson still has time to tack more onto her record. The Sooners (16-4, 6-3) currently sit in third in the Big 12 standings and look forward to making a deep postseason tournament run.
The Sooners return to action against the TCU Horned Frogs at the Lloyd Noble Center on Tuesday.
And the best part, Robertson received a signed jersey from Curry.
