HUTCHINSON, Kan. (KAKE) - Hutchinson police have arrested a man who allegedly robbed a Jimmy John's and a Kwik Shop in the last two weeks.

The Hutchinson Police Department said that shortly before 9 p.m. on Tuesday they responded to a reported robbery at a Jimmy John's at 900 East 30th Avenue. Employees reported that a man had entered the restaurant and demanded money from the cash register after implying that he had a weapon, though none was seen. Employees complied and gave the suspect an undisclosed amount of money and he left.

Shortly after police responded to the scene, the suspect was identified as 28-year-old William Webster and taken into custody.

After an investigation, detectives said they were able to link the suspect to another robbery that took place at a Kwik Shop at 1330 East 30th shortly after 10 p.m. on Jan. 16. Police said that Webster went into the Kwik Shop and demanded money from the cash register, implying that he was armed. Employees gave cash and he fled. 

Webster was arrested for of two counts of robbery and two counts of aggravated assault: committing felony, placing subject in fear while disguised.

The investigation is ongoing.
