(6:50 pm) I-70 reopened in northwest Kansas

The Kansas Department of Transportation has reopened I-70 in both directions between Hays and the Colorado border.

Crews are continuing to remove snow and ice from the roadway. Please slow down, use caution and allow equipment room to work.

(Update on I-70 closure, as of 5:03 pm) - 

The Kansas Department of Transportation has now closed westbound I-70 between Hays and the Colorado border.

Eastbound I-70 also remains closed between WaKeeney and the Colorado border. The closures are due to continued adverse weather conditions, vehicle crashes blocking the roadway and limited accommodations and truck parking.

Motorists should not use secondary roads and highways to avoid the interstate closures.

WAKEENEY, Kan. (KAKE) - KDOT has closed I-70 between WaKeeney and the Colorado border Saturday afternoon.

The Kansas Department of Transportation closed I-70 due to winter conditions and car crashes reported in Colorado. Drivers are advised to wear their seat belts and be prepared for winter road conditions.
