PRATT, Kan. (KAKE) - A mother and children are safe after officials say their air fryer caught on fire Wednesday afternoon. 

Crews responded shortly after 4:30 p.m. to the report of a structure fire in the 300 block of Gardner Street on the west end of town. The Pratt Fire Department said on Facebook that the resident reported her air fryer caught fire and she was able to get herself and kids out safely. 

Firefighters didn't see any smoke when they arrived, but when the went inside they encountered smoke and a fire. It was quickly extinguished and contained to the kitchen area. 

It's unclear exactly what caused the air fryer to catch fire.
