WICHITA, Kan. (KAKE) - Wichita police are looking for two armed robbers who stole from a southside QuikTrip.

But this wasn't a typical armed robbery. In this case, the weapon was a cup of hot coffee.

Surveillance video from inside the convenience store near 31st street south and Seneca shows two men walking through the store for several minutes, picking out different snacks.

Then as the clerk starts to check them out, one of them throws a cup of hot liquid, possibly coffee in the clerk's face.

"When they decide to throw the hot liquid in the employee's face, that's when it elevates to a robbery,” said Crime Stoppers Coordinator Trevor Macy. ”So it's being investigated as a felony at this point."

The clerk quickly backed away and called for help as the robbers ran from the store and left in a silver four-door sedan.

"These guys like to talk about it sometimes,” said Macy. “We know that they're not going to stay silent forever. We hope someone will call in with these tips."

If you recognize the suspects or know anything about this crime, you're asked to call Crime Stoppers at 316-267-2111. You could be eligible for a cash reward.
