EL DORADO, Kan. (KAKE) - A massive fire destroys an El Dorado barn overnight. The fire chief releasing a statement saying the cause of the fire is undetermined.

The fire broke out around nine o'clock Wednesday night in the 800 block of SE Pioneer Road.

Chief Joe Haag says the fire at the 5,700 square foot barn was so intense they had to go into defensive mode which means crews battle the fire from the outside instead of where the fire is located.

Since the fire was located in a rural area of the El Dorado Fire District, which did not have an established fire hydrant system, a water shuttle operation was conducted with the assistance of 8 different departments, including approximately 20 apparatus and 38 firefighters from within Butler County.

Crews were finally able to get it under control around 12:15 Thursday morning. Chief Haag says the building and its contents were destroyed.

No one was hurt.
