Runaway 14-year-old Kansas girl found in trunk of stolen car; boyfriend arrested
PITTSBURG, Kans. (KAKE) — Police in southeast Kansas say they have found a runaway 14-year-old girl hiding in the trunk of a stolen car and arrested the teen's 18-year-old boyfriend.
Crawford County Jail records show Rylie Timko was booked Monday afternoon for felony contributing to a child's misconduct. No bond information was provided.
According to KTKA, Pittsburg police received a report two days after Christmas regarding a stolen car. The woman making the report said her son, Timko, took her vehicle without permission. The next day, police got a tip that a 14-year-old runaway from Ft. Scott was possibly with Timko.
Pittsburg officers located the vehicle on New Year's Day and found the runaway hiding in the trunk. They took her into custody and returned the car to Timko's mother.
Police located Timko at his mother's Pittsburg home on Monday and arrested him. The girl is back home with her family.
