WICHITA, Kan. (KAKE) - Sedgwick County dispatch has confirmed that a woman, six children and a dog are without a home Sunday night after a house fire.

Fire and emergency crews were dispatched to the 500 block of W. Shirk St. just before 10:00 p.m. When they arrived, they could see flames and smoke coming from the house. Despite their best efforts, the house was a total loss.

The Red Cross is assisting the family.

Crews say the investigation is ongoing but powerlines were involved.
