SHELBYVILLE, IN. (WTHR/CNN Newsource) - Children at one Indiana elementary school got the chance to have plenty of fun with their principal this week.

At Southwestern Elementary School in Shelbyville students watched as first year principal Beth Hoeing became a human ice cream cone. Students won this tasty challenge after raising 5000 cans of food.

"It was quite a fierce competition - second grade between our two classrooms, and Mr. Robinson's class won," said Principal Hoeing.

It's one of the many things Mrs. Hoeing does for her students, another is being Elf on the Shelf. A TikTok video featuring Principal Hoeing has amassed nearly eight million views.

"I didn't realize it was going to get this big," commented Hoeing. "There was one day this week where my hands were in the air and all the kids high-fived me as they walked by. It was pretty exciting. Everyday when they're walking out they say to me, 'I can't wait to see what the Elf is doing tomorrow.'"

She has even been taped to the wall.

"We did not allot enough time for that particular one. And we're not able to put enough tape on me to hold me to the wall in time for arrival so there are a couple of chairs underneath me. But that was ... that one was a lot of fun," she said. "And for them to have something to look forward to each and every day when they come to school and .. it's been something that's been very magical. It's all for the kids. As long as we're doing something for the kids and the kids are enjoying it, that's all that matters."

For Mrs. Hoeing, it's all about giving back to her students.
