KANSAS CITY, Kan. (KAKE) - The Kansas Highway Patrol says a 22-year-old Wichita man suffered serious injuries when he fell from a pickup truck driving the wrong way on a highway interchange in Wyandotte County. 

The incident happened at around 10:20 a.m. Tuesday on the ramp from southbound I-435 to eastbound I-70 in Kansas City, Kansas. The patrol reports a Chevy Silverado was going the wrong way on the outside shoulder and slowed for a disabled vehicle. The driver waited for traffic to pass and then proceeded to pass the disabled vehicle. As the truck accelerated, a man in the bed of the truck fell off. 

The man who fell was transported to a the University of Kansas Medical Center for treatment.

The 44-year-old Wichita man driving the pickup was not hurt. It's unclear why he was driving the wrong way on the interchange.
