Shockers fall to Mizzou in overtime fashion
In their toughest test yet this season, the Wichita State men battled unbeaten Missouri into extra minutes with the Tigers ultimately coming out on top, 88-84.
The Shockers move to 4-3 while the Tigers improve to 8-0.
"I thought our guys fought hard. I still believe our guys are getting better and better. I know it doesn't show it in the win column," Wichita State head coach Isaac Brown said. "Our guys will take tomorrow off and continue to work and get better. We got some high character guys that we trust and believe in and they'll keep fighting."
Five Shockers finished in the double figures. Craig Porter Jr. and Jaykwon Walton each tallied 14 points. Walton recorded a double-double adding a game-high 10 rebounds.
Jaron Pierre Jr. finished with 13 points, Xavier Bell had 12 and Gus Okafor totaled 11 points to go along with eight rebounds on the night.
Mizzou's Noah Carter led the way with a game-high 20 points. D'Moi Hodge finished with 19 points.
The Shockers shot 54% from the field and 41% from deep, while the Tigers shot 42% and made 7-of-33 triples.
Wichita State returns to action on the road against K-State in Manhattan on Saturday.
