3 people dead after Marion County car crash
MARION COUNTY, Kan. (KAKE) - A Friday afternoon accident has taken the lives of 3 people.
The accident happened just after 1:30 p.m. According to the Kansas Highway Patrol, 52-year-old Charlotte Sue Cole of Moundridge was driving a Dodge Caravan northbound on K-256, just west of Marion, Kansas. Another vehicle, driven by Rebecca Renee Young of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, was traveling westbound on U-56.
Cole's van pulled out in front of Young's, causing her to strike the passenger side of Cole's vehicle.
Both vehicles came to rest in the north ditch.
Cole and another woman, 85-year-old Wanda Richmond of Marion, died at the scene. 19-year-old Jessica Dawn Schmidt was taken to a Wichita hospital where she died from her injuries.
The KHP is still investing the accident.
