High-speed chase results in crash near Newton
NEWTON, Kan. (KAKE) - An extended high-speed chase that started west of Salina has ended in a crash.
The chase started just before 3:30 p.m. at mile marker 247, 4 miles west of I-70. Troopers stopped a white BMW with a man and woman inside for speeding and during the stop, the car took off.
They went south on I-135 until exiting onto Smokey Valley road. They then stayed on dirt roads until going back onto I-135 at the Lindsborg entrance. They got into the northbound lanes going south.
The chase then concluded at mile marker 26 when police used stop sticks.
Both the man and woman have been taken into custody.
