2-year-old starved to death after father died of natural causes, medical examiner says
GENEVA, N.Y. (KAKE) — Nine months after a 2-year-old boy and his father were found dead in a New York apartment, investigators revealed the man died of a heart attack and the child died of starvation.
WROC reports 59-year-old David Conde Sr. and David Conde Jr. were found dead in their apartment in Geneva on February 15. The Monroe County Medical Examiner said the father died from cardiovascular disease and his son then died from starvation.
The medical examiners believes that after the death of his father, the toddler was not able to seek help or obtain food, resulting in his tragic death.
According to the The Ontario County Sheriff’s Office, deputies were initially sent to the home in February for a welfare check after family members had not heard from Conde and his son in over a week. The two were found dead in a bedroom.
