WICHITA, Kan. (KAKE) - James Dayvault has been convicted of aggravated indecent liberties with a child. 

Dayvault is scheduled to be sentenced on December 28 at 9:30 a.m.

A 33-year-old man who was sentenced to prison in 2020 for taking lewd pictures of women and young girls is back in court on a child sex crime charge. 

The Sedgwick County district attorney's office said James Dayvault is charged with aggravated indecent liberties involving a 7-year-old child. Opening statements in his trial were expected to begin Tuesday. 

Dayvault was sentenced in March 2020 to 57 months in prison after he pleaded guilty to sexual exploitation of a child, lewd and lascivious behavior, attempted breach of privacy and breach of privacy. In that case, a neighbor reported seeing Dayvault following young children and photos of them.

During the investigation, police recovered photos on his cellphone that included pornographic images of children and images taken up women's skirts at various locations include a local church and department store parking lot. Some photos were also taken at least three locations at Wichita State University, where Dayvault was a student.

Authorities have not released details of the current indecent liberties case.
