WICHITA, Kan. (KAKE) - The Wichita State men's basketball team lost to Alcorn State, a SWAC opponent from Mississippi today in a game that, in all honesty, should have been an easy win.

WSU's coaching staff tried to warn players about the dangers of taking opponents lightly, but the team learned the lesson the hard way, losing 66-57 at Koch Arena on Saturday. The game was actually a "buy" game, in which the Shockers actually paid money to bring Alcorn State to come and play ball.

The college made good on the offer, stunning the local crowd with its tenacity.

Alcorn State stunned the local crowd and won the game by 11.

The Shockers (1-1) play their first road game of the 2022-23 season when WSU travels to Richmond (2-0) for a game on Thursday, Nov. 17.
