PARSONS, Kan. (KAKE) - The Kansas Highway Patrol says 32-year-old man was holding down a canoe in the bed of a pickup truck was thrown into a ditch by a gust of wind. 

The accident happened around 12:40 p.m. Tuesday on U.S. 400 about nine miles west of Parsons in southeast Kansas. The patrol reports a Chevy Silverado was heading north when a gust of wind caught the canoe, throwing it and the man holding it down out of the truck bed. 

The 32-year-old man was not seriously hurt. He and the 42-year-old driver are from Youngsville, Louisiana.
