WICHITA, Kan. (KAKE) - Authorities have arrested a suspect in connection to the fentanyl overdose/poisoning death of a 24-year-old Wichita man last month.

Sedgwick County Jail records show 18-year-old Gage Smith was booked Tuesday evening for distribution of a controlled substance causing death, possession of a controlled substance, possession of paraphernalia and violating controlled substance laws.

The sheriff's office said it was contacted about information related to the death of Corey Wontorski on September 11, a Wichita Police Department case. According to a sheriff's office spokesperson, enough evidence was gathered to arrest Smith.

The investigation is still on going and will be presented to the district attorney's office.

Smith remained jailed Friday on $100,000 bond.

In all cases, those who are arrested are presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
