SALINA, Kan. (KAKE) - Two 18-year-olds were arrested in connection to 11 vehicle-related crimes, all of which happened over the course of ten days.

Between October 3 and October 13 of this year the Salina Police Department say that they investigated 24 vehicle burglaries and several vehicle thefts. Most, if not all, were from unlocked vehicles.

Property stolen from the cars included:

  • Handguns.
  • Keys.
  • Wallets.
  • Purses.
  • Credit cards.
  • Debit cards.
  • Cash.
  • Change.
  • Hunting equipment.
  • Tools.
  • An apple watch.
  • Air pods.
  • Checkbooks. 

On October 12, at around 10:34 p.m. officers responded to a suspicious activity call at 2200 Roach St because someone reported a dome light on inside of a vehicle.

Officers then located four vehicles that had been illegally entered and a person inside a car in the 2100 block of Nottingham. The person was arrested and brought in for questioning by detectives.

The detectives then served two search warrants at 700 North 5th St. and 800 West Ash St. As a result of those warrants, an additional person was arrested. It was then determined that probable cause was established on eight vehicle burglary cases and three stolen vehicle cases.

The two people arrested were 18-year-old Ethan Runyan and 18-year-old Dalton Gimeson-Smith. Police did not specify which crimes each suspect was connected to. The investigation is ongoing.
