Sports Anchor/Reporter

Micaela Dea comes to KAKE from Missouri, where she most recently worked as a sports reporter and anchor for News-Press Now in St. Joseph. In three years there, she covered everything from professional to high school sports. She was a big part of their emphasis on Kansas City Chiefs coverage and their two (almost three) Super Bowl appearances. On top of that, she also covered Northwest Missouri State basketball for three seasons and two of their national championships.

Before working in St. Joseph, Micaela graduated from the University of Missouri School of Journalism. She earned her Bachelor of Journalism in Sports Broadcasting by working at KOMU in Columbia, Missouri for all four years.

Micaela knew she wanted to work in sports from an early age and it hasn’t changed since. Growing up with a love for writing, she joined her high school newspaper. In her senior year, she became the sports editor and also the first female sports anchor for her high school’s weekly TV show.

Born and raised in San Diego, Micaela is a big fan of her West Coast teams, but takes pride in her Midwest roots. You can catch her cheering on her Tigers, as well as the Chargers, Padres and Clippers in her spare time. Micaela is excited to join KAKE for the opportunity to highlight the incredible talent and stories in local and collegiate sports across the area and state.
