RUSSELL COUNTY, Kan. (KAKE) - A 53-year-old man was killed Tuesday when construction loader lost power and collided with another in central Kansas.

The accident happened at around 2 p.m. at a construction site east of U.S. 281 mile marker 150 in Russell County. The Kansas Highway Patrol says a Caterpillar 940B loader lost power while driving up a hill. It rolled down the hill and hit another loader occupied by two people.

One of the two people on the second loader, Hector Cesar Fraire Montelongo, of Mesquite, New Mexico, died at the scene. The woman who was driving and the man operating the loader that lost power were not hurt.

It's unknown what caused the Caterpillar to lose power.
