Public fish salvage at Kansas lake due to drought
ELLIS, Kan. (KAKE) - Police in a small Kansas town say a public fish salvage is in effect for the local lake due to drought conditions and minimal inflow.
The Ellis Police Department said the city and the Kansas Department of Wildlife and Parks issued Ellis City Lake to be opened to public fish salvage effective immediately.
"This order is posted on the information boards around the lake," the police department said. "It allows the public to collect any remaining fish by any legal methods as well as by hand, dip net, or seine, per regulation 115-7-1. This fish salvage order also removes all daily creel limits and size limits per regulation 115-25-14."
The fish salvage will remain in effect until notices are removed from the lake.
