HANOVER, Kan. (KAKE) - A 71-year-old Kansas woman died in a crash after failing to stop at a highway intersection stop sign on Wednesday, the Kansas Highway Patrol says. 

The accident happened at around 3:45 p.m. at K-148 and U.S. 36 in eastern Washington County. The patrol reports Anne Nielsen was heading south on K-148, drove through the stop sign at U.S. 36 and was hit by a westbound pickup truck. 

Nielsen, of Manhattan, died at the scene. The 60-year-old man driving the pickup wasn't seriously hurt. 

The patrol says both drivers were wearing seat belts.
