Teen arrested in fatal shooting at south Wichita mobile home park
WICHITA, Kan. (KAKE) - Police have arrested a 19-year-old suspect in the fatal shooting of a 21-year-old man at a mobile home park in south Wichita.
Sedgwick County jail records show Laquavion Bell was booked Thursday afternoon for second-degree murder, criminal possession of a firearm and failure to comply.
The shooting happened at around 1:30 a.m. Thursday in the 4500 block of South Hydraulic. Wichita police said the victim, Devin Bills, and several other people were outside a home when there was an argument and Bills was shot twice. He died at the scene.
A GoFundMe has been created to help Bills' family.
Wichita police say a young man is dead after a shooting at a mobile home park on the south side.
It all started around 1:30 a.m. Thursday when police say a fight broke out at mobile home park in the 4500 block of South Hydraulic and someone fired a gun. A 21-year-old man, identified as Devin Bills, was struck twice in the upper body.
Officers arrived and found Bills unconscious and not breathing. Despite lifesaving measures, EMS pronounced him dead at the scene.
Police said Bills and several other people were outside the home hanging out when a verbal argument ensued and shots were fired. The suspect then fled in a vehicle.
Police closed down the southbound lanes of Hydraulic while they investigated.
