WICHITA, Kan. (KAKE) - Family members say a 64-year-old Wichita pastor who died over the weekend had been hit by a car while riding his bicycle.
 
Hope Mennonite Church on Sunday announced the passing of Dave Stevens but did not say how he died. On Wednesday, released the following statement through the church:
 
"Around 8:40 am September 3, 2022 Dave was biking down 109th like he did almost every Saturday. He had the proper biking safety gear. He was hit by a car. It was not a hit and run. There were witnesses that saw the accident and were present with him until he was taken to the hospital. He died with his beloved family with him at 2:17 am Sunday morning, September 4."
 
The statement didn't say exactly where on 109th Street the accident happened. 
 
According to the condolences left for his family, Stevens had served multiple churches in Pennsylvania and here in Kansas. His memorial service is scheduled for 2:30 p.m. Saturday. You can watch it here.
