OSAWATOMIE, Kan. (KAKE) — Authorities in eastern Kansas have charged a psychiatric hospital employee and patient who left the facility early Monday morning.

The Miami County Sheriff's Office initially said 20-year-old Jamey Anderson and 18-year-old Salvador Reyes III were last seen leaving Osawatomie State Hospital in Anderson’s vehicle at about 5:30 a.m. It was found about an hour later near 287th Street and Osawatomie Road and the two were believed to be on foot in the Hillsdale Lake entrance area. 

The sheriff's office said several members of the public tipped off law enforcement to where Anderson and Reyes were trying to hitchhike.

Reyes was booked for conspiracy to commit aggravated escape, aggravated escape and interference with law enforcement. Anderson was jailed for conspiracy to commit aggravated escape, aiding escape, unlawful sexual relations and obstruction.
