WICHITA, Kan. (KAKE) - A 25-year-old Wichita man has been charged with murder in connection to the death of his 1-year-old son last month.

The Sedgwick County district attorney's office said Kentrell Willingham was charged Monday with first-degree murder and an alternative count of first-degree murder, as well as child abuse and aggravated child endangerment.

Willingham's girlfriend, 25-year-old Xjohnna Hannah, was charged August 2 with first-degree murder, child abuse and aggravated child endangerment.

Willingham and Hannah have been released from jail on bond.

Wichita police said officers responded July 28 to a child abuse report at Wesley Medical Center, where staff reported a family member and guardian brought in Lasiah Williams. He was unresponsive and pronounced dead.

According to police spokesperson Chad Ditch, investigators learned the boy had been with Willingham and Hannah for a few days. A family member met Willingham for a custody exchange and the family member noticed a short time later that Lasiah was unresponsive. The family member and Lasiah’s legal guardian then drove to the hospital.

Police have not said exactly how Lasiah died.
