WICHITA, Kan. (KAKE) - Wichita police arrest overnight a second man accused in a deadly shooting in east Wichita on Monday.

Sedgwick county jail records show Shannon Cavitt was booked early Saturday morning for first-degree murder, aggravated burglary, aggravated robbery, and four counts of kidnapping.

The shooting happened Monday morning in the 5200 block of East Gilbert. Police said the victim, 49-year-old Dennis Haynes, and several other people were in the home when two armed men entered and shot Haynes. He died at a local hospital.

Cavitt's bond has been set at $536,500.

Sedgwick County jail records show Caviontay Conway was booked Wednesday afternoon for first-degree murder in commission of a felony, aggravated robbery, aggravated kidnapping and drug distribution.

Police spokesperson Chad Ditch confirmed Thursday morning that WPD is still searching for the second suspect.

Wichita police have released the name of a 49-year-old man who was shot and killed on the east side Monday morning. 

Officers responded just before 8 a.m. to the report of a shooting in the 5200 block of East Gilbert, which is south of Kellogg and between Oliver and Edgemoor. they arrived and located Dennis Haynes, of Wichita, unconscious and not breathing. He died at a local hospital.

WPD said in a news release that the investigation revealed the victim and several other people were inside the home when two armed men entered, shot the victim and fled. 

Lt. Rick Moscicki said witnesses reported seeing two subjects in dark clothing fleeing the area in a small dark-colored vehicle. No arrests have been announced. 

Investigators don't believe the incident was random. Anyone with information is asked to call police.
